At TDC we are capable of tuning Ford, GM, and Mopar applications reliably and efficiently. Our tunes are custom tailored to the customer’s goals and applications. Most new customers don’t realize that tuning for power (a.k.a WOT Parameters) can actually be the most straight forward aspect of tuning and that tuning idle and partial throttle conditions can actually be the most time consuming depending on the level of modification. One of the main reasons is 02 feedback and ignition tuning. As you may know, when 02 feedback is enabled, the stock ECU ignores the fuel values in the tune and controls the fuel under partial throttle conditions by itself. Unlike the majority of other performance shops, we disable O2 sensor feedback and custom tune the idle and partial throttle sections of the ignition and fuel map which can contain more than 8-12 times the amount of tunable cells and parameters than WOT conditions depending on the application and tuning software used. Only after your setup is completely tuned and temperature compensation tables are tuned do we enable 02 sensor feedback. There a number of reasons for this approach to tuning and one of the most important from the customer’s point of view is safety and reliability. If a wideband(s) faults, the rings can be washed out, there can be fuel contamination in the oil system and even corrosion of main/rod bearings and valve train components depending on the level of contamination and miles driven. Depending on the modifications, there can also be an opposite effect such as lean conditions/knock which we all know what that can lead to. This is why we place so much emphasis on idle and partial throttle parameters in addition to WOT parameters.
In cases where wild cams are present, custom tuning with no O2 feedback at idle is necessary to greatly reduce or eliminate the extreme rich conditions experienced with these cams. Generally, 02 feedback must be turned off with wild cams even after tuning is completed in order to keep the ECU from wanting to idle extremely rich again. Even though you may hear that running rich at idle and cruising is normal with wild cams from other individuals and tuning shops, don’t be fooled, it’s not safe and you shouldn’t have to deal with it. At TDC, we are perfectly capable of greatly reducing those extreme rich conditions and it's negatives affects on gas mileage safely and efficiently through custom tuning.
Yes, tuning partial throttle in addition to WOT parameters is time consuming and that is exactly why our tuning rates are flat regardless of whether your setup requires 3 or even 8 hours. We believe this to be fair and just to our customers which to us is equally important. Customers also appreciate us taking our time as well with their setup and even more so with Forced Induction applications in which heat soak becomes a greater factor and greater cool down periods must be experienced between runs. Only after each setup is custom tuned to the customer’s goals and application do we perform several heat soaked runs to adjust and tune the temperature compensation tables associated with engine coolant and intake air temperatures. Doing so, assures the each customer will have as consistent and reliable of a tune as possible with the added benefit of not having to worry about additional costs from an hourly rate..

Dyno-tune rates for Tweecer / Big Stuff / C.A.T.S / Haltech / Motec/ AEM EMS/MAP-ECU/ Megasquirt ECU's:
- $500 - NA with bolt-ons
- $550 - factory supercharged / nitrous injected / cam'd
- $650 - aftermarket supercharged/turbocharged vehicles
Dyno-tune rates if you already have an SCT X2, X3, or Livewire flasher or Diablosport Trinity or for tuning on HP Tuners:
- $550 - NA with bolt-ons
- $600 - factory supercharged / nitrous injected / cam'd
- $700 - aftermarket supercharged/turbocharged vehicles
Dyno-tune rates with SCT Flasher purchased at time of dyno-tune session:
- $850 - NA with bolt-ons
- $950 - factory supercharged / nitrous injected / cam'd
- $1050 - aftermarket supercharged/turbocharged vehicles
Emanage:
- $350 Flat Rate - Aftermarket Map/MAF Sensor add $100
Unichip:
- $449 Flat Rate - Aftermarket Map/MAF Sensor add $100
Add $200 for SCT Livewire flasher
Re-tune for existing customer with flasher:
Re-tune for existing customers:
$100 covers first hour. Re-tune rates only applies to vehicles with "same cams, supercharger or turbo" that has changed a bolt on part(s) or would like more boost or nitrous. If the cams, turbo or supercharger itself is changed then it will be considered a completely new tune and the standard tuning rate will apply as a result. The re-tune rate will not exceed half of the original cost of the tune no matter how long it takes. We believe this to be fair and just to our customers as well as us.

Race Fuel Tuning
Street vehicles should be filled with the octane and brand of pump gas fuel that you normally use.
There is no charge to load an extra race-fuel tune onto your flasher when we are done with pump-fuel tuning.
There is an additional $50 charge to cover tuning and dyno time if you wish to fill the vehicle with race fuel and have us tune it, after we have completed the pump-fuel tuning. This charge covers the extra time and pulls needed to tune the vehicle on race fuel. You will need to supply your own race fuel or make other arrangements. If you plan to do this please let us know ahead of time.
Check with us before selecting a race fuel for your application. Blends and stoich points vary greatly from one fuel to the next, which could cause your A/F to change unknowingly.
We sometimes have VP C16 (116 oct) available for sale(Call ahead for availability).

E85 Tuning
We promote & encourage the use of E85. Due to the many limiting factors involved in using E85 (fuel capacity, hose type, injectors size, seasonal E85 blends, etc... etc..), please call us to discuss this option.
New tunes on E85 will be the same rate pump gas tunes.
Pump gas tunes that would like to be converted to E85 will cost $200. Same applies if tuned originally on E85 and would like a pump gas tune. This is assuming we did the initial tuning.

A few quick things to check before bringing a vehicle in for tuning:
If aftermarket forced induction or pullied stock blower, what are the plugs gaped at? they should be between .031 & .035". How old are the plugs? Copper plugs need to be changed every 5-10k miles. Platinum every 15-30k miles. Call of us if you need help deciding on which plugs to get.
If aftermarket supercharged, is the IAT sensor installed after the blower? Or after the intercooler if equipped?
When was the fuel filter changed last? it should be changed every 15-20k miles.
If nitrous injected, do you have a bottle heater and pressure gauge? do you have extra fuel jets? All are strongly recommended for consistency.
For Lightnings and 03/04 Cobras, does your intercooler pump work?

When you bring your car to TDC for tuning, rest assured that you will be getting the best that the tuning community has to offer. Not only do we focus on full throttle, high horse power tuning, but we also spend the time needed to make sure your vehicle runs smoothly and idles like stock. Partial throttle tuning is a commonly over looked part of the tuning process, but the tuning staff at TDC beleives that a properly tuned car can serve as a Track car and a daily driver.
